Introduction

It started as a spreadsheet to document what I have in my Middle Eastern music collection in a way that would be easier to reference than pulling CD's and vinyl off the shelves in order to read the track lists and liner notes.

A social media discussion started by someone else made me realize that maybe other people would like to see some of this information I've compiled. So, here it is.

Although this page provides a large amount of information, I don't consider it to be complete or comprehensive. It is now, and always will be, a partial list. I'm simply sharing what I assembled for my own use in the hope others will find it useful as well.

I've done the best I can to make this information as accurate as possible. However, information is only as accurate as the sources used to gather it. Mine came largely from CD liner notes and web searches. Sometimes even knowledgeable people can make mistakes. Your understanding is appreciated.

ABOUT THE PHOTO: This photo of Oum Kalthoum stands in the Oum Kalthoum museum in Cairo, Egypt.
