To: DesdeMona, Belly Dancing Queen

by Michelle West

Aromas rise from distant dreams
Drums and flutes make love and beats
In the story of her rhythm
hides intrigue and romance
Her hands grace the air
Sharing memories with the wind
Across her belly down her
private storm ridden seas
She holds an ancient dialect.
The oceans crash,
for a voice to sing her praise.
The skies let go of tears
releasing love and loss,
along with this dancer.
Softly her feet play
upon carpets of hope
Lightly the golden tassels
softly clink and chime,
right in time, with her passion.
Listen carefully as you watch
to the fairy tales she holds
in the motion of her sway
Ride the flow
Catch the cresting waves
Journey to the far side
of her prophetic heart
Never be the Same.
