Sometimes the song title is written as "El Dunya Rabi3", and the singer's name as Soad Hosni. Soad Hosny was a very popular Egyptian star in both television and cinema, known as "The Cinderella of Egyptian Cinema". She was born in Cairo in 1942, to an artistic family. Her "girl next door" personality contributed to her immense appeal as one of the top actresses of the 20th century. One of her movies, Khally Balak Men Zouzou (Watch Out for Zouzou), achieved fame as one of the most popular movies ever made in Egypt, remaining on theatrical screens for about a year. She died in 2001 in a suspicious accident, falling from a balcony in London. The photo to the right shows a still of Soad Hosni singing this song in the scene from Amira Hobbi Ana where it appears. |
