Please Help the Artist!

Kelly is hoping the worldwide dance community can help her with a request related to this painting. It has been taken and not returned, and Kelly hopes you can help her recover it.

A few years ago, someone "borrowed" the painting with a promise to take photos of it to promote her work, then return it to her. Sadly, the painting was not returned and the person disappeared. This occurred in Wilmington, North Carolina, but by now the person who took it could be anywhere. As the creator, Kelly feels like a piece of herself is missing and wants her painting back.

Have you seen this painting hanging in anyone's home, business, art gallery, or dance studio? If so, please notify Kelly (contact information below), or Shira of where you saw it and how to contact the person who has it in their possession.

Kelly is also a professional visual artist. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1992 with a BA in Illustration, after completing a specialized study in children’s book illustration. In 1994, Kelly settled in Wilmington, North Carolina, to pursue a career in art. Her work appears in many private homes and businesses in Wilmington and surrounding areas. Kelly Hawes at Cape Fear

Kelly’s work includes murals, canvases, business logos, product labels, product design, T-shirt design, and painted furniture. Kelly typically works in acrylic, guache, watercolor, pen and pencil. Her work can be bold and imaginative or delicate and organic. Her most vivid canvases simulate the appearance of Russian lacquer.
Kelly often shows an appreciation of the feminine form in her artwork. Inspired by her love of Middle Eastern dance, she is creating a series of canvases featuring joyful belly dancers of all shapes and sizes.
