About The Lyricist/Translator

John Bilezikjian created the words and adapted the music of this beautiful song, and he also provided this translation of it for this web site. John has been performing music and accompanying belly dancers for over 40 years. He is an entertainer, musician, singer, composer and teacher. He obtained his Bachelor Of Arts degree in violin, oud, and composition at California State University, Northridge. John's ability to speak and perform in 10 languages (Turkish, Armenian, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, French, German, Greek, and English) makes him versatile enough to play a broad range of music ranging from folk music of various nationalities to Western classical music.

Photograph Of John Bilezikjian John is a very versatile composer as well as performer. His music embraces the traditions of Armenia, Turkey, the Arab World, Greece, Russia, Israel, Eastern Europe, Spain, Asia and Latin America. He has written and recorded rock 'n roll, music for belly dancing, television and motion picture soundtracks, and has produced a myriad of original compositions. He plays over fifty instruments, although his focus has been and remains the oud. He has appeared as a background musician in the scores of many television and film scores, including The Way Of The Wind, Mission Impossible, The Postman Always Rings Twice, I Spy, Anastasia, and many others.
